Walking into another board presentation right now for one of our clients. Here are 3 things I always try to keep in mind for a board presentation:

  1. Be clear and concise — Board members are incredibly busy people and usually want to cut to the chase. It’s important to be clear in intent and articulation as well as succinct in content.

  2. Understand the win — Stay mindful of what the win is for the presentation. If you are presenting on behalf of a client, it’s important to understand what the desired outcome of a presentation should be. It’s less about how well you come off personally and more about moving the ball forward for the organization or brand.

  3. Call to action — Information and awareness (aka updates) doesn’t change anything. Think of ways to invite the board to participate in the ideas for the organization that allows for a collective move forward. Simple ideas for action can make a world of difference.
